Carbon Sequestration

Carbon sequestration describes the process of capturing and long-term storage of atmospheric carbon dioxide or other forms of carbon in plants, soils, geologic formations and the ocean. It has been advanced as a viable method to slow the atmospheric and marine accumulation of greenhouse gases, mitigating or deferring global warming and avoiding the irreversible effects of climate change.
